Lifepoint has designated every fifth Sunday of the year as a day to serve the community through local service projects. Our first event on August 31, 2014 saw a great participation from our members who served at Chesapeake Place, the Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon, and Indian River High School. Each project was unique as our members served by washing wheel chairs, handing out water and Gatorade to runners, and doing landscaping. While these projects may seem simple to some and limited in terms of face to face interaction with the community, people were very appreciative of our service and lives were impacted in unseen ways. One leader of the institutions that we served announced to their whole staff that our team was going to volunteer. We continue to see and hear many other positive results from this time of service as our members connect and their children learn about the blessing of serving others like Jesus. Preparations are already being made for future work. Leaders are needed to facilitate projects for these great weekends and may contact our staff for more information. Volunteers who are new to this great opportunity or who may not attend Lifepoint, are welcome to contact us for more information regarding how they can participate.
