Covenant of Members

To understand the purpose of this covenant you must first understand what is meant by a member. A member is one who has been led by the Spirit of God into a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and has made a public profession of faith through believer’s baptism and agreed to join with other like minded followers of Jesus to accomplish the mission of LifePoint Christian Fellowship (further referred simply as LifePoint). As a member I solemnly and joyfully enter in covenant with those of LifePoint.

In the New Testament several tasks are given to those who make a commitment to follow Jesus. Included in these are to love God, love others, and carry out the mission of Jesus. LifePoint considers our ultimate mission to lead people to become healthy, growing, multiplying followers of Jesus. The strategy used to accomplish this is to create environments where people are encouraged and equipped to move toward intimacy with God, community with one another, and influence with our world.

The New Testament concept of the Priesthood of Believers is taught with the understanding that all followers of Jesus have been given the responsibility as ministers of the gospel. In light of this teaching LifePoint believes its members to be ordained by God for good works and to work alongside one another in unity to accomplish the mission.

We covenant to gather regularly with LifePoint to continue toward a healthy, growing, multiplying relationship with Jesus for ourselves as well as inviting those within our influence toward the same end. We will use our giftedness, personalities, passions and resources to support and encourage the mission, vision and strategy of LifePoint. We will be good stewards of our earthly possessions and resources by cheerfully and continually supporting LifePoint’s ministries by underwriting its ministerial and operating expenses, providing relief to those in need, and participating in the effort to spread the gospel to our community, region, state, nation and around the world.

As a group we covenant to walk together in Christian love and in the power of the Holy Spirit to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ, to strive for the success in the LifePoint’s ministries by helping create environments both personally and corporately where people are encouraged and equipped toward intimacy with God, community with one another, and influence with our world. We covenant to watch over one another in brotherly love in an effort to show a cynical world the love of Jesus in action; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense and always ready for reconciliation.

We covenant to strive to maintain a healthy home environment by personal and family devotional Bible studies and prayer; promoting and practicing biblical faith and worldview; to seek the salvation of our family and acquaintances; to speak, act, and live in such a way that others are drawn to Jesus.

We commit that when we move from active membership in LifePoint, that we will, as soon as possible, unite with another Church for strength and fellowship, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s written word.
